Dear Sister, 1914

Delnice is a small Croatian town in the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar, in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

On December 12, 1914, the New York Stock Exchange reopened after having been closed since August 1st. That same day in Zagreb, after a previously aborted attempt, Anike resolved to write to her sister in Delnice.

Dear Sister,

Don't be angry with me for not replying to your postcard, as I did not know myself when we would be free.

Today they told us when that would be.

As you wrote about your coming, you could come on 22 or 23, because on 24, 25, 26, 27 we don't have school, i.e. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Regards to father, mother and Miriki.

A warm kiss from your sister,
Anike

Thanks to my friend Barbara for helping me get this translated with the help of her mom.
